Information of interest
Pamplona is the capital city of the Region of Navarra and centre of the Pamplona basin. It was founded by the Roman general, Pompey, on a pre-existing settlement. Pamplona occupies a central position on the map of Navarra. It is situated on a plateau 449 metres above sea level and has a surface area of 23.55 square kilometres.
Pamplona and its region are found within a mountainous belt with an altitude of around 1,000 metres.
It spreads out on both banks of the Arga river. It is the financial and commercial centre of Navarra, as well as its administrative centre.
It is an important industrial centre, its most important activities being the car industry, wind energy, construction materials, metallurgy, paper and graphic arts, and meat products. Teaching and health are the second economic activity of the community.
Pamplona is a well-connected city. Located 407 kilometers from Madrid, 434 km from Barcelona, 176 km from Zaragoza and 158 km from Bilbao. Its carefully planned roads also connect with France; the highway Del Norte gets you to San Sebastián in 45 minutes, and in just over an hour you can reach Vitoria via the highway La Sakana. These roads allow you to quickly reach the international airports of Bilbao and Biarritz. And, if you prefer, you can catch the daily flights that join Madrid and Barcelona with the Noáin airport (about 7 kilometers from Pamplona), or come by bus or train.
BY CAR
For the access and exit of the city, Pamplona is connected to a road network that leaves from the city in the direction of Huesca, Zaragoza, Logroño, San Sebastián and Irún.
From Madrid
There are two routes to Pamplona. You can take the highway A-2 to Medinaceli, then continue along the N-111 to Soria and then the N-122 to Tudela. From here, continue along the N-121 or the toll highway AP-15. Another option is the A-1 from Madrid in the direction of Burgos and Vitoria.
Pay attention when you get to Alsasua because the road forks towards San Sebastián and Pamplona by the A-15. Take this last one.
From Barcelona
From Barcelona take the toll highway AP-2 to Alfajarín, in Zaragoza. From there, follow the AP-68 to the AP-15 that goes to Pamplona. Along the route, there are three toll sections.
From Biarritz
- A-8 toll highway from Behovia and link to the N-121 A Behovia-Pamplona through the port of Belate, direction Pamplona
- A-8 toll highway from Behovia, to San Sebastián where it links with the A15, direction Pamplona
From Bilbao
AP 68, direction Vitoria and later the Highway of La Sakana ( N-240 A) , up to Alsasua: the road forks towards San Sebastián and Pamplona by the A-15. Take this last one.

It has a total surface area of 63,000 m2, including two underground parking floors. It is large enough to hold any type of cultural or commercial event. BALUARTE has a privileged location in the midst of the shopping area and the most dynamic leisure area of the city. Despite its considerable size, BALUARTE maintains a friendly, warm and space-saving scale that adapts to passers-by and to the environment. On the inside, BALUARTE offers the possibility of generating different-sized spaces to adapt to any type of event.

Apart from the hotels selected by the Congress, which offer you special rates for those dates, Pamplona offers an interesting variety of accommodation, including 1 to 4-star hotels, hostels and boarding houses. It also offers holiday apartments, with hotel services, but more spacious and normally with an American style kitchen with everything necessary to make meals, just as you would at home. You can also choose between a central location, or near Pamplona but away from the hustle and bustle of the city, or perhaps just a few steps away from the shopping and leisure centres.
